One hotel that has recently turned into a Mecca of entertainment activities in Nigeria today is Onishaga International Hotel located at Tasiru Kosebinu street, off Lagos State University (LASU) Road, Akesan Lagos; the choice of its location must have been well thought of as it takes one of the terrific life and aching traffic complexities with which the formal capital city of Nigeria is synonymous with.

The architectural design of Onishaga International Hotel is a masterpiece and it keeps one wondering if the designer was considering winning an International award when the whole dream was conceived! The structure is comparable to those monumental edifice found across the world, most especially in Latin America like Brazil and Argentina.

The reason for this uniqueness is not far fetched as the Chairman of the hotel, Mr. Fatai Ilo is famous for globe trotting. “I travel a lot and I’ve visited a lot of countries, stayed in a lot of hotels and that made me exposed to what hotel business should look like”, he told Gbemisola Jolaosho, ONN society editor in an exclusive interview.

Away from the eye-popping physical structures, Onishaga hotel could boast of state of the earth facilities like plasma television in all the rooms. Mr. Fatai Ilo explained further, “apart from a wide range of facilities in each room, we also have a terrace area perfect for outdoor receptions for up to 500 people at once, our conference room have access to projectors and other equipments on customer’s request.”

It sounds unbelievable to mention that an hotel of such a high and unequalled international standard was commissioned precisely on the 15th of June, 2007. The roll call that glorious day was that of the crème-de-la-crème in the country – politicians, commissioner, business moguls, kings and foreign ambassadors.

“Nigerians living abroad and non-Nigerians should come and have a taste of our excellent services,” Mr. Fatai boasted. The structure, mobile security personnel, high powered generators to back up government electricity and a host of others are not only captivating, but tempting!
